Laurie Witmer (Faver) Melton

Laurie Faver Witmer Melton, age 50, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away in a traffic accident, Friday, November 4, 2016 near Midlothian, Ellis County, Texas.

Her wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Fourth & Elm Church of Christ with Gil Cherry officiating. . Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Laurie was born on July 28, 1966 in Abilene, Texas. Her parents were long-time Sweetwater residents William Altus Faver and Lois Virginia (Wales) Faver.

Laurie attended elementary and high school in Sweetwater, where she excelled in tennis and was named an All-District Player. She then attended Abilene Christian College, Texas Tech University and Lamar University.

She was a homemaker. She married Wayne Melton on March 23, 2015 in Scurry County, Texas. She loved animals.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Melton of Sweetwater, Texas, her children, Christopher Witmer, Anna Marie Witmer, Matthew Witmer, all of Meridian, Idaho; Axelyn Chalise Pope and husband Waylon and Lace Rayanne Melton, Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Joan & Jimmy Melton, sisters, Ginny West and husband Chris of Austin, Texas, Nancy Griffin and husband Billy of Baytown, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Altus & Lois Virginia Faver.
