Margaret (Martinez) Lopez

Margaret Lopez, age 88, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Coronado Nursing Home in Abilene, Texas.

Funeral services for Margaret will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 2:00pm, with a viewing being held Monday evening from 6-7:30pm, under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Margaret was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. She spent her time teaching others about God’s kingdom and the benefits it will bring.

Margaret was born on December 24, 1929 to Pascual & Felipa Martinez.

She is survived by her children, Tina Stokes and Nick of Abilene, Pedro Pascual Lopez and Ida of Round Rock, Barbara DeLeon and Johnny of Sweetwater, and by siblings Pascual Martinez and Maria, Esther Cordova and Pete of Midland, Rosa Orona of Odessa, Eloisa Martinez and Ben of Sweetwater, Eva Ornelas and Joe of Sweetwater, and Rachel Ornelas of Odessa. Her 14 grandchildren, Gloria Stokes and Chad, Nick Stokes, Raymond Stokes of Abilene, Peter Lopez and Lorin of Georgetown, Naomie Tarin of Abilene, Jeremy De Leon and Ilda of Centerton, Tommy Lopez and Alanna of Amarillo, Talia Lopez and Zachary Lopez of Round Rock, Jessica Kastner of Temple, Dulce Mancine and Chad of Fort Worth, Feliz Vasquez and Pepe of Abilene, Abel Lopez and Vida Lopez of Abilene. Margaret had 25 great grandchildren, and 23 great great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, her husband Pedro Lopez, son Tommy Lopez, sister Micaela Alcala, brothers Manual Martinez, Elias Martinez, Daniel Martinez, grandson Danny Ray Stokes, and granddaughter Laura Talia Lopez.

The family would like to thank the Hospice of Big Country, Dr.Hazelip, Dr. Dawson, and all of the nurses for their wonderful care, especially Carmen, and employees Gloria, Elena, Mary, Patty, Tonka of Coronado Nursing Facility.
