Morris Hinshaw, age 87, passed away at his home on Monday, June 19, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 22 , 2017 at l:00 P.M. with Rev. Cathy Ludlum Reed officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall at the church.

Morris was born to Leo and Helma (Schubert)  Hinshaw on June 26, 1929 in Sweetwater, Texas. He attended Sweetwater schools and graduated from Newman High School in 1948. He married the love of his life, Eska Watson on December 2, 1949 in Sweetwater, Texas. He was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. He also was a member of the Jaycees, Chuck Wagon Gang, Elks Lodge, and Kiwanis. He was the Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Young Man of 1958. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He started working at National Bank of Sweetwater in 1948 and retired in 1995 from First National Bank as Executive Vice President. Morris was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by two daughters, Susan Story and husband Mark of Temple, and Sharon Gotcher and husband Lynn of Sterling City, two sons, Stephen and wife Roberta of San Angelo, and Stewart and wife Lorie of Pearland, eight grandchildren who called him Grump, Brandon Boley and wife Shanna of Florence, Jason Boley and wife Sabrina of College Station, Stephanie Stafford and husband Lesley of Sterling City, Heather Gotcher of Dallas, Jessica and Kristen Hinshaw of San Angelo, and Sydney and Peyton Hinshaw of Pearland, seven great grandchildren, Ethan, Emma and Joe Boley of Florence and Conner and Aaron Boley of College Station, and Coe and Collyns Eska of Sterling City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Helma Hinshaw, wife, Eska (Watson) Hinshaw and an infant son, Scott Evan.

In lieu of flowers, his wishes were for memorials to go to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 956, Sweetwater, Texas 79556, and Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1911, Abilene, Texas 79604. .
