Silvestra O. (Ortiz) Solis

Silvestra O. Solis, age 88, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Sweetwater Healthcare.

A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Monday, August 15,2016 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Manuela Flores.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rotan, Texas with Father Renato Cruz officiating. Burial will follow at Roby Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Silvestra was born on November 26, 1927 in Del Rio, Texas to Thomas and Rosario (Cortez) Ortiz. She married Augustine M. Solis in 1947 in Del Rio, Texas. She had been a resident of Fisher County since 1993 moving to Sweetwater, Texas. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and also a member of the Guadalupanas. She worked for Abilene Regional Medical Center (Humana) for many years before retiring.

She is survived by her daughter, Anna Barrera and Bernie Cabrera of Roby, Texas, daughter, Sandra Salinas and husband Elias of Abilene, Texas, sister-in-law - Olivia Ortiz of Dimmitt, Texas, sisters, Susan Villereal and husband Adolfo of Abilene, Texas, two brothers, Thomas "Uncle Tom" Ortiz, Jr. of Roby, Texas and Robert Ortiz and wife Mary of Winters, Texas, grandchildren, Jose & Jessica Chavira, Albert & Amy Barrera, Joanna & Rob McCann, Michelle & Alfonso Macias, Mary & Mario Barrera, Donnie Barrera, Ermando Barrera, Jr. Stacy & Brian Jimenez, Dennis Salinas, Jessica & Zeke Herrera, Emily Salinas, and Christian Barrera, twenty two great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Ortiz, Sr. and Rosario (Cortez) Ortiz, and husband Augustine M. Solis, son-in-law, Ermando Barrera, Sr., brothers, Nati Ortiz, and Rudy Ortiz.

Pallbearers will be George Pena, Johnny Pena, Danny Ortiz, Sal Ortiz, Gus Ortiz, and Johnny Ortiz.

Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Barrera.
