Virginia P. (Lucero) Acosta

Virginia Lucero Acosta, age 72, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at her residence.

A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by David Mendez.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Virginia was born on January 28, 1945 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Eluterio and Francisca (Porrias) Lucero. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She married Rogelio Acosta in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, Rogelio Acosta of Sweetwater, Texas, five sons, Paul Lucero of Boston, Massachusetts, Rogelio Acosta, Jr. and wife Patricia of Abilene, Texas, Victor Acosta, Eric Acosta and Armando Acosta all of Sweetwater, Texas, one daughter, Lizette Acosta of Sweetwater, Texas, (2) sisters, Ida Carreon of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Mary Garcia and husband Gus of California, nine grandchildren, Sean Perez, , Victor Acosta, Jr., Dominique Acosta, Izayah Nunez, Noel Nunez, Dezirae Nunez, Angel Acosta, Abigal Acosta, and Andrew Acosta, and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eluterio and Francisca Lucero, son, Rudy Guzman, two brothers, Ernesto Lucero and Bernie Noriega, sister, Stella Guerria, and grandson, Rudy Guzman, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Paul Lucero, Rogelio Acosta, Jr., Eric Acosta, Victor Acosta, Jr., Dominique Acosta, and Izayah Nunez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Noel Nunez, and Andrew Acosta.
