David R. Gutierrez

David R. Gutierrez, age 66, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas.  

A rosary will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Victor Rubio, Jr..  

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.  

David was born on December 14, 1957 in Seymour, Texas to Edelmiro and Conseulo (Romero) Gutierrez.  He married Esthela Martinez on May 15, 1981 in Harlingen, Texas.  He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.  He worked as a self-employed general contractor.  He was a longtime resident of Sweetwater.  

He is survived by his wife, Esthela Gutierrez of Sweetwater, Texas, sons, David Andrew Gutierrez of San Angelo, Texas, and Daniel Gutierrez and wife Amanda of Melissa, Texas, grandchildren, Cason Daniel Gutierrez, Leah Danielle Gutierrez, Payten Ann Gutierrez, and Kylie Michelle Gutierrez, sisters, Raquel Castorena of Sweetwater, Texas and Noemi Russell and husband Rick of Sweetwater, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Edelmiro Gutierrez, Sr., mother, Conseulo Marquez, and sister, Hilda Alvarado.  

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
