Juanita Gomez Obituary

Juanita Gomez, age 77, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 surrounded by family.  

A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 19, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Lydia Torrez.  

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held l0:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating.  Burial will follow at Garden of Memories.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.  

Juanita was born on November 23, 1946 in Sweetwater, Texas to Francisco Q. "Frank" Gomez, Sr. and Dolores (Torrez) Gomez.  She worked for Bahlman Cleaners for many years, Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital, and was also a family caregiver.  She was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish and a lifetime resident of Sweetwater, Texas.  

Juanita Gomez also known as "Nana" to everyone was the most loving and selfless person.  She made it her life's mission to take care of others with her delicious cooking and nurturing heart.  She left a piece of herself with all of us here on earth and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.     

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Gomez of Sweetwater, Texas, two granddaughters, Megan Huger and husband Brian of London, England, and Morgan Zupan and husband Mark of Dripping Springs, Texas, four great grandchildren, Kaegan Gomez, Kaleb Huger, Zachary Zupan, and Zane Zupan, sister, Maria Castro of Sweetwater, Texas, brothers, Edward Gomez of Sweetwater, Texas,  Lupe Gomez and wife Mary Ann of Grand Prairie, Texas, Jerry Gomez of Sweetwater, Texas, Rudy Torrez and wife Lydia of Oak Cliff, Texas, and Mario Gomez of Sweetwater, Texas, sister-in-law, Romana Gomez of Sweetwater, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Dolores Gomez, three sisters, Gloria Castro, Velia Gomez and Delia Sparkman, two brothers, Francisco "Frank " Gomez, Jr.,  and Tony Gomez, sisters-in-law, Patricia Gomez, Nellie Gomez, Belinda Gomez, and Sarah Gomez.  

Pallbearers will be Jerry Brian Gomez, Mario Anthony Gomez, Moses Gomez, John Edward Castro, Michael Torrez, and Danny Torrez.  

Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Gomez, Devyn Gomez, Andy Gomez, and Nicholas Torrez.
