Refugia "Ruth" (Fierros) Heredia

Refugia "Ruth" Heredia, age 88, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene, Texas.  

A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Lupe Medellin.  

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.  

Refugia was born on July 4, 1935 in San Angelo, Texas to Victor and Refugia (Luna) Fierros.  She married Manuel Heredia on July 23, 1955 in Sweetwater, Texas. She worked for SISD as a custodian for many years before retiring.  She was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater and a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.  She was a member of the Lady of Guadalupanas.  She was a avid Texas Rangers supporter, a great cook and seamstress and she loved game rooms and Las Vegas.  Her family was the joy of her life.  

She is survived by five sons, Ricky Heredia and wife Martha of Sweetwater, Texas, Tony Heredia, Gilbert Heredia, all of Sweetwater, Texas, Manuel Heredia, Jr. of Midlothian, Texas, and Mario Heredia and fiance Sheri Tester of Roscoe, Texas, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and one sister, Blasa Borrego of Abilene, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor & Refugia Fierros, husband, Manuel Heredia, brothers, Severo Fierros, and Robert Molina, sister, Rita Gomez, and niece, Cecelia Fierros.  

Pallbearers will be Ricky Heredia, Tony Heredia, Gilbert Heredia, Manuel Heredia, Jr., Mario Heredia, and Josh Heredia.  

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
