Jose Angel (Joe) Valdez

Jose Angel (Joe) Valdez, age 77, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Per his wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial mass will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 13, 20l8 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Joe was born on July 7, 1940 in Cameron, Texas to Jesse and Delores (Aranda) Valdez. He married Rita Vasquez on April 10, 1960 in Sweetwater, Texas. He worked for U.S. Gypsum for many years before retiring. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.

He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Villafranca and husband Jose, of Sweetwater, Texas, Annette Stockert and husband Chris of Castle Pines, Colorado, and Delia DeLoera and husband Adolf, of Sweetwater, Texas, nine grandchildren, Sonya Gaona, Matthew Gaona, Oakley DeLoera, Riley Pepitone, Candice Wegehaupt, Robbie Dobbins, Annika Dobbins, Tillman Stockert and Easton Stockert, seven great grandchildren and four sisters, Socorro Ramon of Sweetwater, Texas, Rosa Hoag of Temple, Texas, Lupe Solano and husband Merced of San Antonio, Texas, and Lydia Massey of San Antonio, Texas. .

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Delores Valdez, wife, Rita Valdez, and brother, Ignacio Valdez.
