Orville Colyer Obituary

Orville D. (Sam) Colyer, age 81, of Maryneal, Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 27, 2019 at Maryneal Baptist Church with Pastor T.J. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow with Masonic Graveside Service at Decker Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Orville was born on June 12, 1938 in Jugornot, Kentucky to Harry W. and Emma (Williamson) Colyer. He married Rosalind George on September 5, 1958 in Roscoe, Texas. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a longtime member of Maryneal Baptist Church. He was a member of the John Sayles Masonic Lodge #1408 of Abilene, Texas. He owned and operated Grape Street Wrecking in Abilene, Texas for many years before retiring. He had been a resident of Abilene, Texas for forty years and then Maryneal for twenty years.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalind Colyer of Maryneal, Texas, daughter, Lisa Colyer of Maryneal, Texas, Sons, Cory Colyer and wife Deirdre, and Allen Colyer and wife Susan, all of Abilene, Texas, seven grandchildren, Brian Colyer, Cassie Colyer, Michael Colyer, Coleton Colyer, Riley Colyer, Briana Westbrook, and Morgan Westbrook, eight great grandchildren, brother, Joe Colyer, sister, Pauline Mozena, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and eleven brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Al Alexandre, Ben Hollowell, Dale Adams, Dwight Young, Joe Colyer, and Jerry Colyer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Davis and John Adams, Jr.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 6977 Main Street, Houston, Texas 77030.
