Rita (Vasquez) Valdez

Rita Valdez, age 75, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at her residence.

A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Johnny Cave.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 10, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Rita was born on June 16, 1942 in Sweetwater, Texas to Felipe and Juanita (Torres) Vasquez. She married Joe Valdez on April 10, 1960 in Sweetwater, Texas and were married 57 years.  She was a wonderful and giving mother to her three daughters. Rita was a wonderful wife, precious mother and loving and caring grandmother always closing her conversations with "I Love You and remember angels are all around you". Rita was a lover of life.

She worked as a housekeeper for Kathy Dickson for many years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Valdez, three daughters, Cynthia Villafranca and husband Jose, Annette Stockert & husband Chris, and Delia DeLoera and husband Adolf, nine grandchildren, Sonya Gaona, Matthew Gaona, Oakley DeLoera, Riley Pepitone, Candice Wegehaupt, Robbie Dobbins, Annika Dobbins, Tillman Stockert and Easton Stockert, seven great grandchildren, two sisters, Petra Adames and Elena Hernandez and husband Ruben, and brother, Daniel Vasquez and wife Joan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Juanita Vasquez and brother, Felipe Vasquez.

Pallbearers will be Matt Gaona, Oakley DeLoera, Manuel Adames, Armando Villesca, George Vargas, and Rito Ramon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tillman & Easton Stockert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1651 Pine Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.
