Socorro (Valdez) Ramon

Socorro Valdez Ramon, age 76, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Her wishes were to be cremated. A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 25, 2019 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Lupe and Merced Solano.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Holy Spirit Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Socorro was born on February 8, 1942 in Cameron, Texas to Jesse and Delores (Aranda) Valdez. She worked for Sweetwater ISD at Philip Nolan in the cafetaria for many years before retiring. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. She married Rito Ramon, Sr. in 1958 in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater, Texas.

She is survived by her four children, Rito Ramon, Jr. of Sweetwater, Texas, Gilbert Ramon and wife Sherry of Sachse, Texas, Terri Wells and husband John of Sweetwater, Texas and Belinda Davis and husband Charlie of Velma, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; DeAne Carrillo, Danielle Ramon, Amanda Ramon,  Anetia Ramon, Tara Hodges, Joseph Davis, Isabella Davis, and Sophia Davis;  six great grandchildren, Stellar Hodges, Cash Shearin, Lilly Shearin, Chris Gutierrez, Matthew Munoz, and Nicholas Carrillo;  three sisters, Rosa Hoag and husband Eric, Lupe Solano and husband Merced and Lydia Massey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse & Delores Valdez, husband, Rito Ramon, Sr., two brothers Joe Valdez and Ignacio Valdez.
