Adelaida T. Alaniz

Adelaida T. Alaniz, age 85, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, surrounded by family.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 P..M..  

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Fourth & Elm Church of Christ with Dr. Michael Harbour officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Adelaida was born on December 16, 1939 in La Rosita, Texas to Gregorio and Angelita (Torrez) Tovar. She married Lupe Alaniz, Sr. in 1960 in Sinton, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by daughters, Rosemaria Alaniz of Sweetwater, Texas, and Pauline White and husband Charles of Bryan, Texas; sons, David Alaniz and wife Irene of Sweetwater, Texas; and Jesse Alaniz and wife Julie of Lubbock, Texas; step-daughter, Rosemary DeLeon of Sinton, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandy Tovar Pearce of Sinton, Texas; two brothers, Ruben Tovar, and Leonard Tovar and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Angelita Tovar; husband, Guadalupe Alaniz, Sr.; sons, Alfonso Alaniz, Guadalupe Alaniz, Jr., and Martin Alaniz ; daughter, Linda Gonzalez; and brothers, Martin Tovar, and Ponciano Tovar.

Pallbearers will be Jesse T. Alaniz, Ray Ceballos, Aaron Trevino, Alfonso Trevino, Xavier Montemayor, and Wesley Burns.

Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Burns.
