Armando (Herman) Torres Hernandez

Armando (Herman) Torres Hernandez, age 85, of Roscoe, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. to service time. 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Cate-Spencer &Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken Lyle, Staff Chaplain of Hendrick Hospice Care Center.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Herman was born on September 2, 1940 in Winters, Texas to Dolores (Lolo) C. Hernandez and Elena (Torres) Hernandez. He married Janie Lujano on May 7, 1962 in Ballinger, Texas. He was a truck driver and worked for Redi Mix, Smith Trucking and TXDot, before retiring. He had been a resident of Roscoe for fifty five years, moving from Sweetwater. He was a Catholic.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A brother, uncle and cousin and was loved by his entire family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, entertainment-gambling, restoring and painting vehicles. He instilled inspiration to his sons and daughters for his love of cooking outdoors and barbequing. He leaves his legacy with his wife and children to carry on.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Hernandez of Roscoe, Texas; children, James Hernandez and wife Tracy of Cedar Hill, Texas, Gregory Hernandez and wife Shanay of Lubbock, TX; Armando Hernandez, Jr. and wife Penny of Sweetwater, Texas, Dahlia Hernandez of Roscoe, Texas, Leo Hernandez and wife Loretta of Sweetwater, Texas, and Linda Hatcher and husband Mark of Sweetwater, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brothers, Alexander Hernandez and wife Cora of Abilene, Texas, and Manuel Hernandez of Abilene, Texas and sister, Evangelina Rodriguez of Abilene, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lolo and Elena Hernandez; sister, Olivia Hernandez; son-in-law, George Vasquez, and brother-in-law, Martin Rodriguez.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dylan Hernandez, Corey Hatcher, Christopher Hernandez, Armand Hernandez, Jonah Hernandez, Noah Hernandez, and Scotty Robinson.
