Barbara Williams

Barbara Williams passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, wrapped in the love of her family.

Barbara was born on December 19, 1940 in Azle, TX. She married her high-school sweetheart, Wendell Williams, on July 11, 1958.

To know Barbara was to be touched by her warmth, her faith, and her unshakable devotion to the people she loved. She was a loving wife, the proud mother of three, a cherished grandmother of six, and a joyful great-grandmother of five. Her family was her world, and she poured her whole heart into each generation she helped raise.

For 29 years, Barbara served at Sweetwater High School, where she became so much more than the office secretary —she was a steady source of comfort, encouragement, and kindness. Students adored her, colleagues respected her, and countless lives were changed simply by the way she cared.

After retiring, Barbara never stopped giving. She volunteered on the Child Welfare Board. She also gave her time as a “Pink Lady” at Sweetwater Hospital Gift Shop and served faithfully at First Baptist Church and delivered meals for SNAP. She was busier in retirement than in her work life. Wherever she went, she carried compassion with her, making people feel loved, and safe.

Barbara had a servant’s heart and a deep, enduring faith. She prayed for others with sincerity and passion, often becoming the first person friends or family turned to in times of worry or need. She lived her life strong in spirit, larger than life in presence, and always ready to lift others up. She wanted to know everything about you. While it was painful to see Barbara’s light obscured by the fog of Dementia, she never lost her big beautiful smile. Til the end she would smile at us each day.

Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Estelle King, her father Maxie Elbert King and her sister, Pat Boydston. Barbara's surviving members of her family are her husband, Wendell Williams, her daughters, Tanya Terry and husband Robert Terry, Kim Williams and Cindy Kristek and her husband Steve Kristek. Her grandchildren, Tabitha Schenck and her husband Chris Schenck, Wesley Terry and his wife Audra Terry, Kyle

Terry, Luke Terry, Carter Kristek and his wife Delanie Kristek and Brooklyn Kristek. Great Grandchildren, Blaise Terry, Attie Terry, Briggs Terry, Piper Schenck and Luca Schenck.

A special thanks to all the caregivers, Hendrick Hospice and West Texas Hospice we had during her dementia journey.

Her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fill, but her legacy is woven into the lives she touched, the faith she lived out, and the love she gave so freely. She will be forever missed, forever cherished, and forever remembered by all who were blessed to be part of her life.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church, Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.

Visitation will be Friday, September 18 th from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at First Baptist Church Welcome Center.
