Benito Hernandez, Jr., age 82, of Roscoe, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Sterling Hills Rehab surrounded by his loving family.
A Prayer Service will be held 6:30 P.M., Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. recited by Deacon David Mendez.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 13, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Benito Hernandez, Jr. was born on November 6, 1943, in Robstown, Texas, to Benito Hernandez, Sr. and Juanita (Redin) Hernandez. He married Consuelo "Connie" Castillo on February 8, 1965 in Sweetwater, Texas. Together they had eleven children.
Benito and Connie were former residents of Rotan, Texas, where he was a self-employed farmer and a diesel mechanic. They then moved with their family to Snyder where he worked as a diesel mechanic. After that they then moved to Roscoe where he worked for Gary Pieper as a cotton farmer for over thirty years before retiring.
Benito and Connie were both faithful Catholics. They were members of St. Albert's Catholic Church in Rotan, Texas. When they moved to Roscoe, they attended Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. Benito was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother to his family. He will be missed by everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Consuelo (Connie) Hernandez; sons, Bobby Hernandez and wife Andrea, Nick Hernandez , Brian Hernandez and wife Esther, Christopher Hernandez and wife Nancy, Benito Hernandez, III and wife Amy, and Keith Hernandez and wife Ashley; daughters, Brenda Santiago and husband Johnny, Nora Hernandez, Tammy Phillips and husband Casey, Audrey Pineda and husband Ismael, and Casseda Fierro and husband Michael; numerous grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Alex Hernandez and wife Olga, Freddie Hernandez and wife Amelia, Daniel Hernandez and Armando Hernandez; sisters, Dora Cuellar, Ofeila Mcginty, Irma Pounds, and Odie Hudnall and husband David.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benito Hernandez, Sr. and Juanita Hernandez; sisters, Carolyn Roberts, and Janie Mann; and brother, Albert Hernandez.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Hernandez, Nick Hernandez, Brian Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, Benito Hernandez, III, and Keith Hernandez.
