Billy Joe Shifflett, age 78, of Sweetwater, Texas passed away on Friday,

June 25, 2010 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 28, 2010 at Sweetwater

Cemetery with Lester Cavitt and Mike Sells officiating. Burial will follow with the

Fort Hood Army Honor Guard. Funeral Services are under the direction of

Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Billy Joe Shifflett was born on May 29, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas . He married Shirley

Janelle Poore on Dec. 8, 1950 in Sweetwater , Texas . He was a member of First

Apostolic Tabernacle and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He worked for

SISD for many years before retiring.

He is survived by two daughters – Sharon Hardin and husband Doug of

Sweetwater, Texas and Charlotte Guelker and husband Marvin of Sweetwater, Texas,

( 4 ) grandchildren –Kristie Guelker, Richard Rushton, Robert Hardin and wife

Emily and Joseph Hardin; (3) great grandchildren – Dharma Hardin, Josiah Hardin-

Davis, and Darren Hardin; (1) brother – Floyd Shifflett and wife Dorothy of

Sweetwater , Texas ; (2) sisters – Peggy Franklin of Sweetwater , Tx and Ethelene

Shifflett of South Carolina ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents – David T. and Minnie Ola Ward Shifflett,

his wife – Shirley Janelle Shifflett on March 8, 2009 , (9) brothers and (1) sister.

Pallbearers will be Doug Hardin, Marvin Guelker, Richard Rushton, Robert Hardin,

Joseph Hardin and Tate Mayfield.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 27, 2010 from

6-8 PM .
