Celia Sepeda Castillo

Celia S. Castillo, age 80, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Hendrick Hospice Care Center in Abilene, Texas, surrounded by family.

A prayer vigil will be held 6:30 P.M., Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Mendez officiating, followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M., recited by Victor Rubio, Jr..

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 11, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Celia was born on September 17, 1944 in Hermleigh, Texas to Alejandro and Maria (Herrera) Sepeda. She married Julian Castillo, Jr. on July 14, 1995 in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater and a homemaker. She also worked for Foam Craft for many years until it closed. She was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. Celia loved flowers and enjoyed working in her yard. She was a very quiet and humble lady. Her family was the joy of her life. She will be truly missed by them and her friends.

She is survived by her husband, Julian Castillo, Jr. of Sweetwater, Texas; daughter, Belinda Zarate and husband Mickey of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Gilbert Gutierrez of Sweetwater, Texas, step-son, Julian Castillo, III of Sweetwater, Texas; nine grandchildren, and twenty one great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Adolfo Gutierrez, Jr., brothers, Augustine Sepeda, and Alejandro Sepeda, Jr., and her parents, Maria (Herrera) Sepeda, and Alejandro Sepeda, Sr.
