Charles Dudley Goodnight, age 75, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Hendrick Hospice Care surrounded by family and loved ones.
His wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held l:00 P.M., Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas, with Sam Dilbeck, Larry Sullivan, Jim Hays, and Bob Hailey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Charles was born on December 4, 1950 in Dallas, Texas to John Harris and Georgia Elizabeth (Harless) Goodnight. He married Shelly Ann Ivy on December 15, 1974 in Brookshire, Texas. He was a longtime Church of Christ minister, serving in several congregations over the years. He was a member of Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Shelly Ann Goodnight ; two daughters, Dianna Goodnight and Leanna Flores and husband Antonio; two sons, Andrew Goodnight and Christopher Goodnight; daughters in love, Kayla and Chris Fisher, Jenny and Dusty Tholl, Randi and Dustin Krueger; Catalina Flores, Harmony Malone, Jessica Wall, Melody Maple, Connor, Lauren, Matthew, Cassidy, Easton, Coy and Ellie; numerous nieces and nephews; brother, John Darrel Goodnight and brother-in-law, David Templeton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Georgann Templeton.
