It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Delwyn Keith Robinett (D.K.), 86, of Sweetwater, Texas. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025. D.K. was born in Garza County Texas on May 25th 1939 to the late Sherman and Katharine (Carr) Robinett.
D.K. attended Union, Klondike, and Lamesa High Schools. He met the love of his life Carylon Deatherage and they married in Lamesa, Texas on September 15, 1957. They had two children Ronee Robinett and Robin Robinett.
D.K. worked in the farm and ranch industry for many years. He was also a sales representative for Hydro Tex earning three diamond rings for top salesman over his tenure with the company. Among other things he was an Insurance Adjuster, the Safety Supervisor for the Boll Weevil Eradication Program and had a business for 1955-1957 Chevrolet Pickup Parts. D.K. had a love of horses and a good eye for winners. He was instrumental in forming the Dawson County 4 - H Horse Club as well as the Director of the West Texas Quarter Horse Association. He was very involved in the Cameo Pickup Club. He was his children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Texas as well as a member of the MOFIA, Men of Faith in Action. He had a passion for travel, especially cruise ships.
D.K. is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Carylon, his children Ronee O’Hare and her husband Terence G. O’Hare and their children Connor, Emily and Sean. Robin Hill and her husband Steve Hill and their children Casey Hill and Haley Unger and her husband Matthew Unger. His brother Randy Robinett and his sisters-in-laws Claudine Robinett and Bettye Robinett, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by Sherman and Katharine Robinett, Paul and Deenie Robinett, Merlie and J.D. Wall, Lavoy Robinett, Vernon Robinett and Eva Eulene (Sis) Robinett.
The funeral will be held on l2:00 Noon, Monday, July 7, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Sweetwater, Texas with Dusty Lovell officiating. Following the funeral, there will be a Graveside Service held in Lamesa, Texas at 3:00 P.M. at the Lamesa Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are: Sweetwater Mofia, Men of Faith In Action, Jeff Lay, David Nelson, Gaylon Bond, Brandon Alston, Cliff Forbes, Don Patton, Kin Houston, Trey Woosley, and Andy DeBeary.
