Esther Gutierrez Castillo, age 76, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 P. M. on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. recited by Deacon David Mendez.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, May 4, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Esther was born on November 3, 1949 in Sweetwater, Texas, to Alfonso Gutierrez, Sr. and Ignasia (Nancy) Espino Gutierrez. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. Known for her gentle spirit, generous heart and amazing cooking, she was the anchor of our family. Esther was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, GIGI, sister, and friend, whose nurturing presence and wisdom guided us through life's journey. Her love and dedication to all who knew her brought immense joy. She loved listening and singing along to the "oldies". We are forever grateful for the time we had with her, and she will be missed by everyone.

Esther was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her husband, Domingo Castillo, Sr. on June 14, 1964 in Sweetwater, Texas.

Esther is survived by her husband, Domingo; her sons, Domingo Castillo, Jr. and wife Mari, and Joseph Castillo; her daughters, Tina Castor and husband Anthony and Janise Reddic and husband John; grandchildren,

Ashly, Quincy(Mary), Simone (Stacey), Anthony (Veronica), Christopher (Valerie), Alex (Nikki), Alexis (Dustin), Jasmine (Rafi), Andrew (Brooke), Jadon, Aubri and l5 Great - Grandchildren; her sisters, Linda Medellin and Gloria McFadin and husband Allen; brothers, Pete Gutierrez and wife Rosa, Dolores (Lolly) Gutierrez and wife Mary, and George Gutierrez and wife Lisa, and special friend, Lupe Medellin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mary Ham, Lupe Gutierrez, Christina Salinas, Rumaldo Gutierrez, Alfonso Gutierrez, Jr., Arnulfo Gutierrez, Sammy Gutierrez, and Robert Gutierrez.

Pallbearers will be John Reddic, Anthony Castor, Quincy Reddic, Anthony Castillo, Christopher Hernandez, Alex Castillo, Andrew Castillo and Jadon Reddic.

The family wants to thank Kinder Hearts Home Health and Hospice for the care and compassion of Esther.
