Geronimo De La Paz, age 81, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Sterling Hills Rehab surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Acuna officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Geronimo was born on May 10, 1945 in Pawnee, Texas to Desidoro and Leonor (Trevino) De La Paz. He married Irene Pena on June 14, 1963 in Texas. He worked for the City of Sweetwater for many years. He had been a resident of Sweetwater since 1996, moving from California. Geronimo was a Christian. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother.

He is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Irene De La Paz of Sweetwater, Texas; son, Geronimo De La Paz, Jr. of Sweetwater, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Josephine Gil and husband Gilbert of California, Rosemary Cortez and husband Joel of California, and Belen Duran and husband Randy of Sweetwater, Texas; several grandchildren, including Ricky De La Paz, whom they raised as a son; several great grandchildren, including Jacob and Nicole De La Paz, whom they are raising; sister, Isabel Ramirez and husband Regal of Sweetwater, Texas; and brother, Domingo De La Paz of Colorado City, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rosendo De La Paz, Desidoro De La Paz, and Seferino De La Paz and sisters, Manuela Rodriguez and Hermina Pena.
