Herminia "Minnie" Cortez

Herminia "Minnie" V. Cortez, age 66, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated and no services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Minnie was born on December 12, 1959, in Sweetwater, Texas to Carman and Josefa (Martinez) Valenzuela. In 2007, she married Buddy F. Cortez in Fresno, California, and together they made their home in Sweetwater for l9 years. She was a woman of faith and a devoted Christian. Minnie worked for many years as an administrative assistant at Ludlum Measurements, where she was known for her dedication and warm spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Buddy F. Cortez of Sweetwater, Texas; her daughter, Ruby Montoya of Round Rock, Texas; her son, Andrew Montoya of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Salvador and David Valenzuela of Sweetwater, Texas; two sisters, Elida Gutierrez, and Beatrice Cave of Sweetwater, Texas; grandson, Kayden Madison of Sweetwater, TX; and her beloved pet pug, Lilly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carman and Josefa Valenzuela; sisters, Irene Rodriguez and Anita Ortega; and brothers, Mike, Ray, Raymond, Benny, and Robert Valenzuela.
