Janice (Jan) Marcella Andrews

Janice (Jan) Marcella Andrews, age 75, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away at her residence on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

Per her wishes, her body will be cremated. No services are planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Jan was born on September 4, 1949 in Fort Worth, Texas to James and Odessa Mae (Stamp) Summers. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years before retiring. She was a Christian. She married Don Gaylord Andrews on October 1, 1983, in San Antonio, Texas. She loved animals. She was a longtime member of The Abilene Kennel Club, Inc. Jan was a committed leader in youth development and was instrumental in guiding the Nolan County 4H Dog Project. She was honored with the American Kennel Club Outstanding Sportsmanship Award and served the Abilene Kennel Club faithfully for years as Chair of Obedience and Rally Trials, and in roles as President, Secretary and Board Member. The Abilene Kennel Club, Inc. will be dedicating its 2025 shows and trials in memory of Jan.

She is survived by her son, Cody Cox and wife Crisanta of Frisco, Texas; step-son, James Andrews and wife Allison and their daughter, Mackynzi of North Richland Hills, Texas; sister, Toni Conn and husband Mike of Rockhill, South Carolina, and special friends, Carol Abernathy and Lisa Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Odessa Summers, and husband, Don Gaylord Andrews.
