Jose "Bill" Quintana, age 84, of Roscoe, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2026 at his residence.
A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 P.M., Monday, June 1, 2026, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., recited by Deacon David Mendez.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Bill was born on April 7, 1942 in Roscoe, Texas to Antonio B. and Cecilia (Santiago) Quintana. He graduated from Roscoe High School in l960 and then attended Tarleton State University. He also attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. After college, he started working for U.S. Gypsum and later for Lone Star Industries where he worked for over twenty years as a drafting engineer. He was also a farmer and rancher. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. He lived most of his life in Roscoe, Texas. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, affectionately called "Papo".
He is survived by his son, Oscar Quintana and wife Charlene of Anson, Texas; daughters, Ellie Mendez and husband David of Sweetwater, Texas, and Cynthia Underwood and husband George of Sweetwater, Texas; sister, Eufelia Quintana of Roscoe, Texas; grandchildren, Cecilia Lopez and husband John, Blayke Bewley, Colt Bewley and wife Morgan, Anthony Bewley, Derek Bewley, and Bryan Mendez and Lyndsey Ruiz; great grandchildren, Olivia, Aiden, Diego, Noah and one on the way, Elizabeth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio B. and Cecilia Quintana, and brother, Rosalio S. (Chale) Quintana.
Pallbearers will be Oscar Quintana, Anthony Bewley, Derek Bewley, George Underwood, Bryan Mendez, and Colt Bewley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Lopez, David Mendez, Lenin Juarez, Aiden Lopez, and Diego Lopez.
