Josefina Ramirez Benavides

Josefina Ramirez Benavides of Sweetwater, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 22, 2025 at the age of 89.

A prayer service will be held 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Mendez officiating, followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M., recited by Deacon David Mendez.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Josefina was born on March 13, 1936 in Yorktown, Texas. She worked at Star Steam Laundry in Sweetwater. She was self-employed with her husband as an Upholster. Josefina moved to Irving, Texas with her son Mario and his wife Belinda. She enjoyed going on trips to Cocoa Beach, Florida. Josefina will be missed and loved forever by her numerous friends and family. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Friend. She leaves behind her cherished and loved friends.

Survivors include her children, Mario Garza and wife Belinda Garza, Juan David Garza, and Judy Benavides. She was blessed with numerous Grandchildren, Great grandchildren and Great Great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sylvia Mendez and companion Gilbert Trevino and her sister-in-law Aurora Ramirez. She leaves behind a large extended family including numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias Ramirez and Niria Rocha Ramirez; her husband, Jesus O. Benavides; brothers, Ysidro Ramirez, Jessie Ramirez, Seferino Ramirez, Agapito Ramirez; and sister, Olivia Ortiz.
