Lupe "Wengi" Gutierrez

Lupe "Wengi" Gutierrez, age 67, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Sterling Hills Rehab.

A Prayer Vigil will be held 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Mendez officiating, followed by a Rosary  at 7:00 P.M., recited by Deacon David Mendez.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Lupe was born on October 22, 1956 in Boulder, Colorado to Alfonso, Sr. and Ignasia (Espino) Gutierrez.  She graduated from Sweetwater High School.  She worked as a custodian for Walls, Wal Mart and TSTC.  She also worked for Kyle and Gail Lawrence and family for many years.  She was a longtime resident of Sweetwater and a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.

She is survived by her son, Julian Moncada of Sweetwater, Texas; grandsons, Devin Moncada and fiance Justice Gonzalez of Anson, Texas, and Elijah Herrera of of San Angelo, Texas; great grandson, Lincoln Moncada; sisters, Esther Castillo and husband, Domingo, and Herlinda Medellin, all of Sweetwater, Texas, Gloria McFadin and husband Alan of Abilene, Texas; brothers, Dolores "Lolly" Gutierrez and wife Mary of Sweetwater, Texas, George Gutierrez and wife Lisa of Andrews, Texas, and Pete Gutierrez and wife Rosa of Sweetwater, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso Gutierrez, Sr. and Ignasia "Nancy" Gutierrez; brothers, Alfonso "Ponchie" Gutierrez, Jr., Arnulfo "Shooky" Gutierrez, Samuel "Sammy" Gutierrez, Robert Raul Gutierrez, and Romaldo Gutierrez; sisters, Christina Salinas, and Mary Ellen Ham.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Lopez, Josh Lopez, Domingo Castillo, Jr., Derek Gonzales, Ivan Gutierrez, and Brandon Gutierrez.
