Mary E. Johnston, age 82, of Brownwood, Texas (Long-time resident of Sweetwater, Texas) passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. James Baker officiating. Burial will follow.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Mary was born on September 24, 1931 in Hamlin, Texas to James Russell and Carrie Melvina(Sproull) Monks. She married Wilburn W. Johnston and he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1983. She was a homemaker and member of Westside Baptist Church and then Broadway Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son Dean Johnston and wife Karen of Early, Texas, daughter, Phyllis Zabel and husband Larry of Brownwood, Texas, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Russell and Carrie Melvina Monks, husband , Wilburn W. Johnston, one daughter, Linda Sullivan Crawford, grandson, Larry Sullivan and two brothers.
