Murlene Lanell Green

Murlene Lanell Green, age 89, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at her residence.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Darrell Chappell officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Murlene was born on August 31, 1936 in Sweetwater, Texas to Dudgeon and Wanda (McCollum) Cox. She married the love of her life, William Harold Green on September 9, 1954 in Colorado City, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Parkview Church of Christ.

Murlene was not just a homemaker, she was a devoted wife to her husband and a great supporter of his coaching and teaching career. Besides being a loving mother to her children, she was also involved in all the activities they participated in. She nurtured them and was so proud of the individuals they became. She also was a second mom to a lot of other children that were involved in her husband's athletic program. Murlene was a great seamstress, sewing clothes for her family. She had an outgoing personality in which she never met a stranger. She had touched so many lives, and will be missed by her family and friends. Her love will live on through all of them.

She is survived by her husband of seventy one years, Harold Green of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Karen Lynn Evans of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; son, David Harold Green and wife Jamie of Greer, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Brandon Evans, Casey Evans, Kristin McCall and Matt Green; five great grandchildren, Bryson McCall, Hannah Claire McCall, Emma McCall, Wyatt Evans and Jaxon Evans; and brother, Donald Craig Cox and wife Debra of Brownsville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dudgeon and Wanda Cox and son-in-law, David Evans.
