Richard L. Cuellar, age 52, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Monday, January 28, 2019, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel .
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Richard was born on June 28, 1966 in Sweetwater, Texas to Manuel and Rita (Limones) Cuellar. He worked for the Webb County D.A. office as a law enforcement officer, and after he pursued his career with the Drug Enforcement Administration as an agent which he retired from in 2009. He was a Catholic. He married Oralia Sandoval on January 9, 1992 in Zapata, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Oralia S. Cuellar of Corpus Christi, Texas; son, Alfredo Soto, Jr. & wife Elizabeth of Houston, Texas; daughter, Laura Nixon & husband Zackary of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren, Ryan Richard Soto, Alyssa Soto, Adam Juaquin Soto, and Aubrey Paige Nixon; mother, Rita Limones, father, Manuel Cuellar, step-mother, Juanita Cuellar; four brothers, Roman Cuellar, Julian Cuellar, John Garcia, and Albert Castaneda; five sisters, Manuela Cuellar, Feliciana Campa, Anita Castaneda, Stephanie Lopez, and Esther Hernandez; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Sandoval, Roman Cuellar, Jr., Lucan Campa, Albert Castaneda, Frank DeLoera, and John Cuellar.
Honorary pallbearer will be John Garcia.
