Santos Hermelinda Mihilis

Santos Hermelinda Mihilis, age 95, of Sweetwater, TX, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 surrounded by family.

A Prayer Service will be held 6:30 P.M., Sunday, March 29, 2026 followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel. 

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 30, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Santos was born November 1, 1930, in Sweetwater, TX to Angel Castro and Juanita (Yanez) Castro. She graduated from Newman High School in Sweetwater, Texas. She married Guy Gabriel and then later married Tony Mihilis. She worked in the health department and library at Montgomery County in Maryland for many years. She was a active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish for many years, serving as a member of the Lady of Guadalupanas. When she lived in Rockville, Maryland, she was a loyal member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing and drawing pictures. She also loved to sing with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Phillippe Gabriel and wife Tina, Pierre Gabriel and wife Sunni, and Guy Gabriel and wife Michelle; two daughters, Linda Gabriel and husband Alejandro and Rosemarie Gabriel; grandchildren, Emillianne Gabriel, Lucas Gabriel, Seychelle Gabriel, Dylan Gabriel, Ceiba Gabriel, and Banyan Gabriel; sister-in-law, Mary Castro of Sweetwater, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Ricky Castro and Angel Castro, III.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Angel and Juanita Castro; husbands, Guy Gabriel and Tony Mihilis, brother, Angel Castro, Jr. ; and sisters, Mary Sera and Angela Peroska.

Pallbearers will be: Phillippe Gabriel, Pierre Gabriel, Guy Gabriel, Dylan Gabriel, Rose Gabriel, and Ricky Castro.
