Sesario (Si) Acuña

Sesario (Si) Acuña, age 92, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. 

A prayer vigil will be held 6:30 P.M., Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M. recited by Deacon David Mendez. 

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday February 7, 2025 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Josh Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home. 

Si was born July 10, 1932 in Trent, Texas to Ramon Acuña and Anita (Ann) Zapata Acuña. He married Gloria Ortega on April 20, l955 in Sweetwater, Texas. He had been a resident of Sweetwater for over sixty years. He worked as a grocery store clerk for Mr. Glass for many years before retiring. Si had a great love for the sport of golf and was an avid golfer for most of his life. He enjoyed traveling and home gardening. 

He is survived by daughters, Sue Ann Ramos and husband Alfonso of the Woodlands, Mary Elizondo and husband Jesus of Abilene, Texas, and Nancy Lopez and husband Clemente of Sweetwater, Texas; grandchildren, Magann Gaston, Abby Ramos Stanutz, Brian Ramos, Joshua Carter, Ashley Hogan, Cary Ramos, Benjamin Lopez and Adrian Lopez; great grandchildren, Angel, Lexie, David and Timothy Tijerina, Diego Stanutz, Bodhi Ramos, Harrison Carter, Piper Hogan and Knox Hogan; great great grandchildren, Lincoln, Lennox, Legend, and Ellie; and brother, Richard Acuña. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gloria O. Acuña, two sisters, and four brothers. 

Pallbearers will be Brian Ramos, Josh Carter, Cary Ramos, Benjamin Lopez, Adrian Lopez, and David Tijerina.
