Steven (Steve) Linn Rains

Steven (Steve) Linn Rains, age 67, of Merkel, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Hendrick North in Abilene, Texas.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Rosehill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas with Clint Oakley officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Steven (Steve) Linn Rains was born August 8, 1957 in Sweetwater, Texas to William Marlin and Betty Ruth (Parsons) Rains. He was a graduate of Sweetwater High School. He worked as the head of the maintenance department at Merkel ISD for twenty years before retiring. He was Christian.

He is survived by his daughter, Tara Rains of Austin, Texas; grandson, Brycen Mann of San Angelo, Texas; brother, Greg Rains and wife Trish of Trent, Texas; sister, Marla Rains Reddic and husband Homer of Sweetwater, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marlin and Betty Rains, daughter, Amanda Jo (Amy) Rains Mann.
