A.J. Cook Obituary

A.J. Cook, age 96, of Big Spring, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Lamun Lusk Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas.

Per his wishes, his body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M.., Friday, January 24, 2020 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Acuna officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

A.J. was born on June 28, 1923 in Sylvester, Texas to Henry and Emma Lee (Walker) Cook. He married the love of his life, Joyce Clark in Fisher County. He worked for Southwestern Bell for many years before retiring and was also a self employed farmer. He was a U.S. World War II Army veteran. He was a Christian man who loved his Lord.

He is survived by two sons, Mack Cook of Briggs, Texas and Alan Cook and wife Jessica of Caldwell, Texas, seven grandchildren, Andrew Cook, Sara Bertleson, Dylan Cook, Chris Vera Cruz, Michael Vera Cruz, Patrick Vera Cruz, and James Cook, several nieces and nephews, including Janice Boil of Sweetwater, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Cook, daughter, Sue Vera Cruz, son, Frank Cook, and four sisters, Velma Fay Hanson, Lura Hardy, Maudie Bernard, and Myrtle Cook.
