Daniel Jesus Grimaldo, age 78, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at his residence.
A prayer vigil will be held 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M., recited by Jose Grimaldo.
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Daniel was born on July 21, 1942 in Rocksprings, Texas to Abraham and Aurora (Macias) Grimaldo. He married Alicia Almanza on October 5, 1968 in Rotan, Texas. He had been a resident of Sweetwater most of his lifetime. He worked for Sweetwater Cotton Oil Mill, ADM, and Cape-Sons for many years before retiring. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish where he was a choir member. He was a U.S. Army veteran and also a member of the V.F.W..
He is survived by his wife, Alicia Grimaldo of Sweetwater, Texas, two daughters, Lori Santana and husband Arthur of Abilene, Texas, and Grace Grimaldo of Sweetwater, Texas, four grandchildren, Deidre Fries and husband Corey, Jacob Santana, Talon Thompson, and Hanna Thompson, two great granddaughters, Briar Fries and Blair Fries, brother, Jose Grimaldo of Harlingen, Texas, and two nephews, Alvin Rogers and wife Rosa and Roland Rogers and wife Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Aurora Grimaldo, brother, Gregorio Grimaldo, and sister, Maria Gomez.
Pallbearers will be Michael Grimaldo, Christian Grimaldo, Richard Almanza, Edulio Enriquez, Sr., Austin Rodriguez, and Danny Rodriguez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Santana, Talon Thompson, Roland Rogers, and Alvin Rogers.
