Eddy Joe Kirby, age 75, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in Sweetwater at Sterling Hills Nursing Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 14, 2021 from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 15, 2021 at Bethel Assembly, Sweetwater, with Carter Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery with the U.S. Naval Honor Guard. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Eddy was born on October 8. 1945, in Hope, Arkansas, the youngest child of Louis James and Cleva Jo Wilson Kirby. he attended Snyder schools, and in 1964 enlisted and served in the Navy with a tour of duty in Vietnam. In 1968, he married Kathy Lynn Henderson in Snyder. They were blessed with a son, Lance Edward, in l970.
Eddy worked in the oil industry as a salesman for WSI (30 years) and API (2 years). He and his family lived in Snyder, Hobbs, Odessa, Potosi, Clyde, Roscoe, and Sweetwater. He was well-liked and respected by his business associates and many friends. He lived his life as an example for his family and his impact extended to all he knew. Many have described him as a kind, caring, loving Christian man and definitely stoic.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Kirby of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Lance Kirby and wife Cheryl of Sweetwater, grandson, Dylan Reid Kirby of Lubbock, Texas, and nieces and nephews in Florida and Texas. .
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim Kirby , sister, Wilma Kirby and sister-in-law, Marsha Kirby.
Pallbearers will be Tom Oliver, Greg Oliver, Randy Henshaw, Steve Hill, Roger Bowen, and Clifford Williams.
