Edith B. Flippo, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Sterling Hills Rehab & Healthcare.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas with Chaplain Robert Williamson officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Edith was born in Abilene, Texas to Charles Horace and Margarette Vesta (Waters) Boyd. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Edith graduated from Abilene High School. After graduation she attended City County Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Worth, Texas where she received her R.N.. She also attended Texas Weslayan College in Fort Worth, Texas and received her B.S.. She was a registered nurse for Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital and Texas Department of Health for many years before retiring. She was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi, TEEA, Fisher County Historical Commission, Book Review Club of Sweetwater, and AARP. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her nephew, Boyd Earl Sampley and wife Roxanne, niece, Norma Kaye Sampley Neves and husband Greg, step-son, Bill (William) Flippo, step-grandchildren, Daren Flippo and wife Jennifer, Dawn Vincent and husband Britt, Douglas Flippo and wife Donna, Diane Calcote and husband Scott, and special friend, Patsy Dacus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. Boyd and M. Vesta Boyd, husband, J.C. Flippo, step-son, Donald Flippo, step-daughter, Mary Bailey, sister, Betty Boyd Sampley, brother-in-law, A.H. Sampley, and special friend, Carrol Hodges.
