Eulalio (Chito) Melendez, Jr.

Eulalio (Chito) Melendez, Jr., age 67, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home after a long hard fought battle with non Hodgkin's lymphoma.  

A prayer service will be held 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M. with Deacon David Mendez officiating.  

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Mendez officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.  

Eulalio was born on June 4, 1955 in Sweetwater, Texas to Eulalio & Maria Melendez.  

He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1974.  He spent all of his life in Sweetwater, working mostly in landscaping and car detail for numerous businesses.  

Eulalio was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rico & Henry Duran, sister, Rebeca Duran Salinas, and sister-in-law, Grace Melendez.   

Left to cherish his memories are his spouse, Louisa Escobar of Sweetwater, Texas, sisters, Janie Martinez and husband Andres, and Mary Luz, all of Abilene, Texas, Gloria Edgar and husband Don of Houston, Texas, and Yolanda Sneed and husband Robert of Harker Heights, Texas, brothers, Andy Melendez and Ernesto (Chino) Melendez of Sweetwater, Texas, and Joe David Melendez of Grand Prairie, Texas,  Louisa's children, Amy Escobar and husband Ronnie Hester of Sweetwater, Texas, Martha Nwaneri, Rosemary Escobar, Lupe Escobar, all of Austin, Texas, and Danny Escobar of Sweetwater, Texas, numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.  

Pallbearers will be Brian Saddler, Kenneth Edwards, Hardy Escobar, Allen Morris, Michael Melendez, and Freddie Melendez.  

Honorary pallbearer will be Edward Virgen.
