Garland Young Haygood, age 87, of Roscoe, Texas passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 2, 2020 at Lone Wolf Cemetery, with Pastor David Draper officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
Garland was born December 18, 1932 in Roscoe, Texas to Arnold Guy and Lorene (Rankin) Haygood. He married Maxine Peterson on June 10, 1953 in Loraine. He was a self-employed farmer and also worked for the Nolan County Courthouse as a maintenance engineer for many years. Garland was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Roscoe serving as Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a lifelong resident of Nolan and Mitchell counties.
He is survived by his daughter Charlotte Cave and husband Reid, of Rotan, Texas; four grandchildren, Heather Hardman, Jaecob Hardman and wife Hannah, Savannah Cave, and Derek Jacks, and wife Racheal, five great grandchildren, Morgan Hardman, Rayleigh Hardman, Layton Hardman, Cooper Jacks and Haethen Creed Hardman, and sister, Mary Ann Smith of Sweetwater, Texas.
Garland was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Haygood, daughter Melissa Jacks, and parents, Arnold and Lorene Haygood.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 626, Roscoe, Texas 79545.
