Gloria O. (Ortega) Acuña

Gloria O. Acuña, age 88, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.   

A prayer service will be held 6:30 P.M., Sunday, April 17, 2022 at  Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel  followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M., recited by Deacon David Mendez.                                        .                        
Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 18, 2022 at  Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Gloria was born on March 31, 1934 in Sweetwater, Texas to Ramon and Josephina (Villa) Ortega.  She married Sesario Acuña on Apil 20, 1955 in Sweetwater, Texas.   She worked as a cafetaria manager for S.I.S.D. for many years before retiring.  She was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish and Las Guadalupanas.  

She is survived by her husband, Si Acuña of Sweetwater, Texas, daughters, Sue Ann Ramos and husband Alfonso of the Woodlands, Mary Elizondo and husband Jesus of Abilene, Texas, and Nancy Lopez and husband Clemente of Sweetwater, Texas, grandchildren, Magann Acuña, Abby Ramos Stanutz (Ben), Brian Ramos (Ashley), Joshua Carter, Ashley Hogan (Jeremy), Cary Ramos, Benjamin Lopez and Adrian Lopez (Ali Juarez), great grandchildren, Angel, Lexie, David, and Timothy Tijerina, Diego Stanutz, Bodhi Ramos, Harrison Carter, Piper Hogan, and Knox Hogan, and great great grandchild, Lincoln Steffey, sister, Julie Morales, and brothers,  Phil Ortega, Tomas Ortega, Raymond Ortega, Ventura Ortega and Joe Ortega.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Josephina Ortega, brother, Alex Ortega, and two sisters, Frances Solano, and Inez Camancho.  

Pallbearers will be  Brian Ramos, Joshua  Carter, Cary Ramos, Benjamin Lopez, Adrian Lopez, and David Tijerina.
