Joe P. Gonzales

Joe P. Gonzales, age 66, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.  

A Prayer Vigil will be held 6:30 P.M., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 P.M., recited by Deacon David Mendez.  

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.  

Joe was born on December 16, 1954 in Sweetwater, Texas, to Antonio Tony and Ynes (Palacios) Gonzales.   He married Margarita Gamez on September 16, l974 in Sweetwater, Texas.   He worked as an oilfield rig operator his entire working career.  He was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater, Texas.  

He is survived by his wife, Margarita Gonzales of Sweetwater, Texas, son, Joe G. Gonzales and wife Kandice of Lubbock, Texas, daughters, Cristina Garcia of Sweetwater, Texas, and Rachel Rivera and husband Rodney of Sweetwater, Texas, five grandchildren, Brett Rivera, Roman Rivera, Ryan Rivera, Jaydenn Gonzales, and Jaysen Gonzales, sister, Sylvia Santana and husband George and brother, Jeffery Gomez and wife Angela.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Ynes Gonzales, two brothers, Tony Gonzales and Thomas Gonzales and sister, Erlinda Garcia. 

Pallbearers will be Ruben Underwood, George Underwood, George Santana, III, Tony Gonzales, III, Michael Santana, and Isaiah McDonald.  

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jaydenn Gonzales and Jaysen Gonzales.
