Juanita S. (Segovia) Torrez

Juanita S. Torrez, age 90, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Sterling Hills Rehab.

A rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Monday, August 16, 2021, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Victor Rubio, Jr.

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Juanita was born on November 2, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas to Donaciano and Dolores (Medallin) Segovia. She married Esteban M. Torrez on March 23, 1947 in Sweetwater, Texas. She worked at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital for many years and also at Walls Industries. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish.

She is survived by her son, Joe Torrez and wife Lucy of Sweetwater, Texas, daughter, Ofelia Gipson and husband Kerry of Ennis, Texas, seven grandchildren, Michael, Adrian, Connie, Amy, Khristopher, Casare, and Cindy, seven great grandchildren, Steven, Addie, Ryan, Larissa, Isaac, Cayden and Cid, seven great great grandchildren, Zacariah, Sebastian, Calah, Elena, Khloe, Nathaniel and Luciana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Don & Dolores Segovia, husband, Esteban M. Torrez, three sons, Esteban Torrez, Jr., Jose Torrez, and Frank Torres, grandson, Fabian Torres, sisters, Chana Soto, Marcelina Arrendondo, and Mary Segovia, and brother, Jesus Segovia.

Pallbearers will be Cindy Gipson, Amy Torrez, Casare Torrez, Michael Torres, Steven Torres, and Adrian Torres.

Honorary pallbearer will be Khristopher Torrez.
