Louis Torres

Louis Torres, age 82, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Methodist Charlton Hospital in Dallas, Texas.  

A prayer service will be held at 6:30 P.M with Deacon David Mendez officiating.  followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel recited by Deacon David Mendez. 

Holy Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating.  Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.  

Louis was born on December 31, 1938 in Sweetwater, Texas. He married Margaret Gomez on March 16, 1960 in Sweetwater, Texas.   He was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater, Texas.  He was a longtime member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish where he served as an usher and also was a member of the Guadalupanas.  He was a member of Sweetwater Jaycees for over sixty-one years.   Louis worked for Pace Packing and then U.S. Gypsum for many years before retiring.  He also worked as an upholsterer.  He then started working for NAPA.  He was a loyal Sweetwater Mustang football fan and also worked the play off football games for the Chamber of Commerce.  Louis was a hard worker and never met a stranger.   His family was the joy of his life.   

He is survived by his wife Margaret Torres of Sweetwater, Texas, five children, Gloria Torres of Sweetwater, Texas, Kathy Nusbaum and husband Larry of Lubbock, Texas, Ronnie Torres and wife Lisa of Sweetwater, Texas, Larry Torres of Sherman, Texas, and Michael Torres of Los Angeles, California, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, two sisters, Aurora Ramirez, and Micaela Palacios, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.  

Pallbearers will be Jordan Torres, Rhett Torres, Larry Nusbaum, Joseph Sanchez, Seferino Ramirez, Jr. and Domingo Castillo.
