Robert Russell Bishop, Sr.

Robert  Russell  Bishop, Sr., age 79, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center, In Abilene, Texas.  

Per his wishes, his body was cremated.  A graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 25, 2021 at Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Abilene, Texas with the U.S. Army Honor Guard.  Burial will follow.  Local arrangements by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.  

Robert was born on April 14, 1942 in Roscoe, Texas to Robert T. and Violet LaVora (Barnes) Bishop.  He married Elizabeth Hoyle on February 25, 1967 in Stanton, Texas.  He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.  He worked as a industrial mechanic for many years before retiring.  

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bishop of Sweetwater, Texas, two sons, Robert R. Bishop, Jr. and Martin Lee Bishop, three granddaughters, two grandsons, three great grandsons, two great granddaughters, sister, Diana Pfligerstofer of Merkel, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert T. and Violet LaVora Bishop, and brother, John Oscar Bishop.
