Robert Gallegos Garza, age 67, of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 17, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.   

Robert was a lifelong catholic.  A prayer service will be held at 6:30 P.M.  Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Mendez officiating  followed by a  rosary at 7:00 P.M., recited by Victor Rubio, Jr..  

A military ceremony will be held 9:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with the U.S. Marine Honor Guard.  

Holy Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish with Father Nilo Nalugon officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.    

Robert was born on April 11, 1954, in Sweetwater, Texas to Jose and Beatrice Garza, the youngest of 8 siblings. He was a first-generation high school graduate from Highland High School, where he excelled in athletics and was a self-taught Golden Glove boxer. After graduating high school, he served as a U.S. Marine, where he boxed competitively before receiving an honorable discharge. Robert had a successful career in the oilfield where he was a mentor to many and made countless lifelong friendships. He enjoyed life to the fullest and spent his free time playing golf, fishing, dancing, singing karaoke, spending time with his family and friends and being a Papa to his grandkids. His heaven on earth was found at the Garza Ranch where he instilled a love of the outdoors in his kids and grandkids whether it be hunting, wandering the land or just sitting around a campfire with friends and family. 

He is survived by his children, Robert Garza Jr. and wife Becky of Colorado City, Texas; Isaac Garza and wife Alexandra of Odessa, Texas; Destiny Garza of Colorado City, Texas; his former wife and mother of his children, Diana Garza, of Colorado City, Texas and their four grandchildren, Mason, Robert Gabriel, Avery and Damon Garza. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Henry Garza of Stephenville, Texas, Armando Garza of Sweetwater, Texas, Lydia Deloera and husband Tony of Roscoe, Texas, and Alesia Perez of San Antonio, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews and his longtime companion, Rosalinda Garza of Midland, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Beatrice Garza and brothers, Joe Garza, Arturo Garza, and Domingo Garza.

Pallbearers will be Mason Gage Garza, John Hernandez, Cynde Aguilar, Jesse Aguilar, Jeremy Lee Perez, and Ernest Carrasco.
