Ruby Faye Cox, age 90, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Sterling Hills Rehab.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Broadway Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Stephens officiating, assisted by Rev. Daniel Stovall. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 3, 2021 from 6:00 - 7:30 P.M.
Ruby was born February 19, 1931 in Desdemona, Texas to Gus and Mary Jane (Swaim) Hobson. She married L.D. Cox, Jr. on May 6, 1950 in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Staggs and husband Basil of Sweetwater, Texas, and Lori Matthews and husband John of Katy, Texas, five grandkids, Amy Howard and husband Alton, Amber Serrano and husband Albert, Ryan Matthews, Jace Matthews and fiance Christina Lu, and Tyler Matthews, three great granddaughters, Brynlee, Taelyn, and Emery Serrano. She is also survived by one brother, Wendell Belyeu and wife Mary of Sweetwater, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Cox, Jr., her parents, Gus Hobson & Mary Hobson Belyeu and Step-father, Claude Belyeu, two brothers, Weldon and John Arvon Hobson and one sister, Dorothy Deatherage.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Matthews, Jace Matthews, Tyler Matthews, Jackie Williams, Albert Serrano and Tony Palma.
Honorary pallbearer will be Alton Howard.
