Winnie Lue (Hunter) Shipley

Winnie Lue Shipley, age 104, of Grand Prairie, Texas, (Long time resident of Sweetwater, Texas) passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Michael Harbour officiating . A private burial of her cremains will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. until service time.

Winnie was born on May 21, 1915 in Stamford, Texas to Lucian and Ellie (Anderson) Hunter. She married Martin Daniel Shipley on November 27, 1935 in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a longtime member of Lamar Street Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Shipley and wife Geneva of Tyler, Texas and Joe Shipley and wife Donna of Grand Prairie, Texas, three grandchildren, Robert Shipley and wife Pamela, Matthew and wife Gina , and Kimberley Shipley Foster and husband Josiah, great grandchildren, Hagen, Jackson and Ava Grace Shipley, Luca, Gianna & Nico Shipley and Nora Foster and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Martin Daniel Shipley, five brothers, Ralph Hunter, Jack Hunter, Rufus Hunter, Murray Hunter, and Pete Hunter;  one sister, Dorothy Locks and great granddaughter, Sydney Grace Shipley.
