Pauline Ballew, age 99, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Nolan Nursing and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, September 8, 2017 , at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. George Loutherback and Rev. Matt McGowen officiating. Family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home. A private burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Pauline was born on April 23, 1918 in Haskell County, Texas to Robert E. Lee and Pearl (Speck) Ballew. She graduated from Hardin Simmons University in 1939 receiving her Bachelor of Education Degree. She then taught as an English teacher in Roby, Merkel and Midland before moving to Sweetwater in 1946. She was the office manager for the family business, Sweetwater Broom & Mop Company for thirty four years before retiring. She was a member of the Business & Professional Women for over 50 years, Beta Sigma Phil, and Home Demonstration Club. She was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Ballew of Brady, Texas, two nieces, Sherry Barsch and husband Bill of Levelland, Texas, and Cindy Loutherback and husband George of Waco, Texas, great nieces and nephew, Stephanie David, Allyson Foster and husband Aaron, and Kyle Barsch and wife Kelly, great great nieces and nephew, Eileen and Evan Barsch, and Ellie and Hannah Foster and close friend, Elisabetha Guelker of Sweetwater, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Lee Ballew and Pearl Ballew McGuire, two brothers, Jerry Ballew and Audrey Hoyt Ballew and nephew, Andrew Holt Ballew.
