Welcome to the memorial page for

Philip Enoch Teague

September 12, 1917 ~ June 12, 2012 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Philip Enoch Teague ended his 94-year earthly journey and was promoted to glory on June 12, 2012.  He passed away in Duncan, Oklahoma, from congestive heart failure and complications of old age.

Philip was born September 12, 1917, near Comanche, Oklahoma, to Fred William and Alvurney May Emert Teague.  He married Willie Ruth Bahlman, his wife of 68 years, in Wilmeth, Texas, on December 19, 1943.  The family moved to Sweetwater, Texas, in 1948, where they lived south of the city until 2010 when they moved to Oklahoma to be near their son.

Philip was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and was baptized in the summer of 1937 near Stephenville, Texas, by Jim Hukel.  He was a dedicated member of the Normandy Avenue Church of Christ and helped to build that church building.  He drew up the blueprints and did much of the actual labor in its construction.
Philip served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and then worked in the Civilian Public Service during World War II.  After moving to Sweetwater, he worked in a cabinet shop, as a building contractor, as a television and electrical equipment repairman, for Holiday Rambler trailers, and for Ludlum Measurements before retiring.
He served on the Advisory Board for the Christian Relief Fund, a non-profit relief organization that focuses on rescuing orphans and vulnerable children from poverty and provides food, clean water, education, spiritual training, healthcare, and disaster relief in third world countries.  He made five trips to India and two trips to Honduras on behalf of CRF.  He served as a volunteer mentor in the Sweetwater Independent School District for the HOSTS (Help One Student To Succeed) program from 1994 to 2001 and was nominated for the Governor’s Volunteer Award in 1999.  He was also recognized for his volunteer work with SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) in Sweetwater.
He enjoyed working outdoors - cutting wood for his fireplace and wood-burning stove and gardening, as well as camping and fishing.  He was an avid reader and did extensive research into family genealogies.

He is survived by two sons:  Robert Teague and his wife Louise of Duncan, Oklahoma, Bill Teague and his wife Mary of Waco, Texas, and one daughter, Phyllis Ann Cash and her husband Larry of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren:  Rachel Sherwin and her husband Jonathan, Rebecca Logue, Aaron Cash and his wife Tiffany, Allison Miraval and her husband Allen, and Cody Teague; and three great-grandchildren:  Hannah Sherwin, Jordan Logue, and Leah Sherwin.  He is also survived by one sister, Mary Teague Hatch and her husband, Clinton, of Hope, Arkansas; one brother, Monroe Teague and his wife Jewell, of Irving, Texas; a sister-in-law, Joy Teague of Fort Worth, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Ruth Bahlman Teague, on March 7, 2012, one infant sister, Alma Teague; and two brothers, Chris Teague and Wyatt Teague.

Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, with a Family Visitation on Thursday, June 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home at 403 Locust, in Sweetwater.  His funeral service will be held Friday, June 15, at 2:00 PM, at Normandy Avenue Church of Christ, 105 Normandy, in Sweetwater, Texas with Max Pratt and Mike Ensminger officiating.  Interment will be at Sweetwater Cemetery.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
